A bright interior room with sunlight bouncing off walls and furniture, a real-time global illumination demo

In June 2026, Lumen Decor Studio appeared on the three.js homepage.

Why this one matters #

It is the project where I tried to answer a question designers care about: how does sunlight change the way a color and a room feel? Lumen shows it with screen-space global illumination and screen-space reflections in Three.js WebGPU, TSL and R3F, so you can see how sunlight changes the colors you choose.

It is also honest about the state of the technology: SSGI is still experimental, and at higher resolutions you may see performance or rendering issues. I would rather show that than hide it.

Where it goes #

It led to Lumen Decor Studio 2, and to the work of the WebGPU archviz I presented in Paris. The first story is in the launch post. The project is on its project page.
