Odd & Out Game project preview

Odd & Out is a free 3D adventure for the browser, inspired by the 1991 classic ToeJam & Earl. Two aliens — Odd, the mushroom, and Out — crash-landed on Earth and broke their ship. Explore floating islands that are new every game, ride the elevators between levels, dodge weird creatures and find every missing ship part, on desktop and mobile.

Play solo, online with a friend through an invite link, or in split screen on the same computer, with keyboard, gamepad or touch. The terrain is generated from a seed — lakes you can swim in, rivers, rope and stone bridges, slippery ice — and it is full of gags: trampoline mushrooms, banana peels, a human cannon and a cow taken by a flying saucer.

Under the hood: Three.js on WebGPU with TSL stylized lighting — purple shadows, SSAO, tilt-shift and depth of field — procedural islands from a seeded RNG, a Cloudflare Worker with a Durable Object per room for the online mode, and adaptive resolution with a lighter post-processing layer to keep phones cool.
