# Alien Romulus

> Space scene with MediaPipe facehugger filter · 2024 · Experiments, WebGL

Canonical page: https://andersonmancini.dev/projects/alien-romulus

A cinematic space scene built in homage to **Alien: Romulus** — a facehugger floating in deep space under starlight, lens flares and shallow depth of field that feel ripped from a film still.

Beyond the atmosphere, the experience uses **MediaPipe** face tracking so you can turn on a live **facehugger filter**: the creature locks onto your face through the camera, wrapping the tribute in an interactive layer that goes past a static render.

Part visual set piece, part AR experiment — a playful nod to the franchise that still shows off real-time tracking and lighting craft in the browser.
