VR Seat is one of the projects I am happiest to see recognized, because it solves a real problem: a flat seat map never shows what the night will actually look like.

## The moments

- **October 2022**: it appeared on the [three.js homepage](https://andersonmancini.dev/blog/threejs-org-homepage-featured-projects.md), together with three other projects of mine.
- **January 26, 2023**: it received an **Awwwards Honorable Mention** as "VR Seat - 3D experience" (see [the whole timeline](https://andersonmancini.dev/blog/awwwards-honorable-mentions-timeline.md)).

## What was being celebrated

It is middleware between ticket buyers and venues: cinemas, theaters, schools, stadiums. You step into an opera house, choose a seat and see the stage from that exact point of view. A layer of **spatial audio** shifts the sound with distance, so you also hear how the room behaves from your seat.

I told the technical and product story in [the launch post](https://andersonmancini.dev/blog/seat-selector-vr.md). The tool is live at [vrseat.vercel.app](https://vrseat.vercel.app/), and the details are on the [project page](https://andersonmancini.dev/projects/seat-selector.md).
