In **June 2026**, Lumen Decor Studio appeared on the [three.js homepage](https://andersonmancini.dev/blog/threejs-org-homepage-featured-projects.md).

## Why this one matters

It is the project where I tried to answer a question designers care about: how does sunlight change the way a color and a room feel? Lumen shows it with **screen-space global illumination** and **screen-space reflections** in Three.js WebGPU, TSL and R3F, so you can see how sunlight changes the colors you choose.

It is also honest about the state of the technology: SSGI is still experimental, and at higher resolutions you may see performance or rendering issues. I would rather show that than hide it.

## Where it goes

It led to [Lumen Decor Studio 2](https://andersonmancini.dev/blog/lumen-decor-studio-2.md), and to the work of the [WebGPU archviz](https://andersonmancini.dev/blog/awwwards-webgpu-archiviz-honorable-mention.md) I presented in Paris. The first story is in [the launch post](https://andersonmancini.dev/blog/lumen-decor-studio-1-ssgi.md). The project is on its [project page](https://andersonmancini.dev/projects/lumen-decor-studio-1.md).
