On **May 3, 2024**, Classics Garage received an **Awwwards Honorable Mention**.

## What it is

A classic car configurator built with React Three Fiber: classic sports cars under studio lighting, with mirror-sharp floor reflections and real-time material response. You swap paint colors, toggle headlights, change environments and hear each engine come alive.

## What made it different

A layer of **gamification**. In inspect mode, you hunt for hidden unique parts scattered across the car, and each one unlocks a new feature. A configurator that rewards curiosity is more fun than a list of options.

## One piece of it you can reuse

The paint change uses the [mesh transition material](https://andersonmancini.dev/blog/mesh-transition-material.md), where the new color spreads over the surface instead of replacing the old one. The project is on its [project page](https://andersonmancini.dev/projects/classics-garage.md), and the mentions are collected in the [Awwwards timeline](https://andersonmancini.dev/blog/awwwards-honorable-mentions-timeline.md).
